Happy Mothers Day

A Happy Mothers Day to all of those Mothers out there, hope you have
a lovely one. I am on my lonesome, which I don't mind so much as I get
to have the day stamping to my hearts content, but I missed my cup of
coffee in bed, which is the only day of the year I get it there. I have had
a lovely phone call from my son who is away at school and yet to have
one from my youngest, who is probably to busy fishing to remember!

I have seen these cards on quite a few blogs lately and have been
itching to have a play, so when I got one in a swap lately from Pam
Liersch I thought I would have to give it a go. Lyn the Governess came
for a play and we made this and another card, we had such a ball.

Once we started those flowers though, we just couldn't stop and had to
make a special card to send them in.
Close up of the flowers and butterflies.
Inside the card.

Stamps used: Weathered Background, Petal Pizzaz,
Penny Black Butterfly, Occasional Greetings.

The second card was using the new SU set Fifth Avenue Floral,
along with the DSP Urban Oasis. This set is great, you
can make quick cards like above or elaborate cards
by colouring the flowers in. This was fairly quick with
Designer paper top and bottom and Old Olive ribbon
across the centre held down by brads. Both the flowers
are raised up as you can see by the photo below.
The Happy Mothers day stamp is from the
Occasional Greetings set.
I actually cut Kiwi Kiss card out to use on this card and
was in thought on something else when I put it together.
I gotta say I was annoyed with myself when I looked down
and noticed what I had done, I had intended to keep a
border of the Kiwi Kiss around the whole outside, but I'd
quite happily stuck the DSP on without even really thinking
about it. Don't you hate wasting that coloured card!
Anyway I love the way it turned out, it is quietly elegant.
I hope our mothers enjoy them. I know from talking to them
this morning they haven't received them yet. Sniff!
