Melissa's Thumping Challenge.

Well I have to admit I read Mel's latest challenge and thought what the
......... is thumping. So I went onto Splitcoast resources page and had a look.
I thought this will be fun, then I thought, what have I got SU that I can
use for a father's day card and use to thump? Had a thought for a while
and this is what I came up with.
To start off I got the leaf stamp out of my Touch of
Nature Set and stamped it with wild wasabi ink, I
then thumped it with Chocolate Chip and Glorious
Green pens, then stamped it onto Wild Wasabi Card.
I took the oak tree from the Lovely As a Tree set,
and did the same with the Ink and pens and stamped
that onto very vanilla card, I did the same with the
leaves at the top right. I then sponged Chocolate Chip
all around the edges of the card with the tree on, then
mounted that onto Chocolate Chip and Garden Green.
I did the same with the ink and pens with the Thinking
of You stamp. I then mounted that and the leaves
on the Garden Green and Chocolate Chip and then thumped some small leaves
on the Garden Green to finish the strips off. Then to finish the whole card off
I dragged the edges of the card through the Chocolate Chip and sponged the card
off around the edges.
Well I enjoyed it so much, and I thought well I need more than one card, so I
jumped into action and made another one. I have to admit I have had this set
for months and it was still uncut and unmounted, but it was one of those sets
I just HAD to have. mmmmmmm..
I stamped the bird from Touch of Nature with Chocolate Chip ink, then I thumped
it with Glorious Green and Brilliant Blue, then stamped the image onto Very Vanilla.
I then softly shaded the birds wings with a bit of I think Ballet Blue Pastel.
On my Blue Bayou card I stamped the leaf image in exactly the same way as I did
the tree card - Wild Wasabi Ink and Thumped with Glorious Green and Chocolate
Chip Pens. The Happy Fathers Day and leaf and olives where done the same and
stamped onto River Rock. Mounted on Chocolate Chip and place in the opposite
corners of the card. The bird was then placed on Choc Chip onto Wild Wasabi and
onto Soft Sky, with Choc Chip Ribbon (yumm!!) and then pin pricked.
Mel, I gotta say that without this challenge I very much
doubt I would have tried this technique, and I loved it..
I would say it is now a technique I will use a lot.
Thanks for the challenge Mel.

RAK's

I just so love a random act of kindness. Kim my upline was kind enough to send me
this card and a pkt of stamped images. It was such a pleasure to get it in the mail andI put it straight up on my board for all to see. Thanks Kim it was such a treat!
Check Kims site off to the right for some great cards.

Talk about surprises, this card arrived after a full end of the financial year week. I had been flat out with work visitors and EFY and lots of other stuff, I was feeling so tired and down. I drove to the community to pick the mail up off the plane and the plane was an hour and a 1/2 late. GROAN! So I pick the mail up head home, empty the mail bag on the table, and go through it all, bill, bill, bill, rubbish, bill, hello what's this? I don't know this handwriting and it's not my birthday. All excited and open it up and it's this beutiful card from Jean Mc Kenzie! I loved it and it made my week. Check out Jeans site off to the side.
THANK YOU SO MUCH LADIES! YOUR CARDS ARE
SO LOVED AND THEY GO UP ON MY BOARD FOR
ALL TO SEE.

Katherine Gorge trip......

I am having
so much trouble
loading photo's at
the moment.
I would love to do
a course or is there
any easy site with
easy to follow instructions
on how to do stuff?
For instance how does Kristina Werner
get all of the winning cards in a
group of 10 like that?

I did try, but didn't succeed, so the photo's are all over....
The photo on the left is Fi and Paul

visiting from Weipa in Far North Qld on the right is Todd my eldest and one of their best friends from Karumba in the Gulf of Qld, Macca Fleming.

On the left, all the crew are sitting having a break after we hiked up the hill for a look at the rock paintings, And on the right we have the Gunne Family from Karumba (except Robbie's missing in action). We had a really relaxing day cruising the Gorge, but I have to say, personally we have a lot of areas on Hodgson that are just as beutiful, maybe more so. (and no tourists) John didn't join us as just too busy (and he hates anything touristy) .
I missed him not being there, but we all had a really great day. That night we all had a lovely meal out and a drink LOL (not being allowed to drink at Hodgson, it only takes one drink to get me smashed these days)

"KWerner Design Challenge"

I thought I would have a go at KWerners
colour inspiration challenge. This is my
first go, and as I get on to log, I'm thinking
oh wow, what's the time difference, the time
it closes is midnight tonight, but that's
in America, so anyway I hope it makes it.
When I first looked at the picture it just
screamed at me to do flowers, but as I need to send our neice a birthday
card and she's horse crazy, I thought I would try it with the Bronc
Buster set. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and the colours
are beutiful together.
I'm a bit too buggered to post the recipe tonight, so will get on tommorrow
and fill it all in, but it all is SU card in the above colours and all SU stamps
and punches and Ribbon.

A close up ofsome of my ingredients!

Not sure if it's any better?

Mel's latest colour challenge............

When I read and saw the photo for Mel's latest colour challenge it just screamed
"Fishy Friends" to me.So I got the 3 lot's of colour out and looked at it, and I have to admit I really struggled with it, as gable green is just not a colour I would normally put with Brilliant Blue and YO YO Yellow, I suppose that's why they call it a challenge.....................
Anyway once I had a think about it and decided on which stamp I would
use it came together pretty well. Mel I'm glad you added in whisper white
and basic black, as I would have been really lost. LOL.
Check out Mel's Blog at http://www.melhanlon.blogspot.com/

So here's my entry hope you enjoy! Not really happy with the photo will
give it another go in daylight tommorrow.

My Favourite Card!

This would have to be one of my favourite cards! I made it for John's fathers birthday, it was late as usual, but I hear he really liked it The card used is all SU and the stamps are Print Blocks I should have taken a side view as this photo doesn't show that it is raised in 3 different sizes, the main picture is raised out once and the windmill and happy birthday are raised out twice.

Pillow for the ladies!

Ladies don't you just love this pillow. Can have a snuggle and not worry
about getting the blankets swiped in the night! ROFL!

Don't look if you don't like hunting!

My boy's are right into their shooting at the moment, and it is always a competition
of who can get the biggest. Feral animal are a huge problem on this place, like pigs,
bulls, buffalo and sorry to say donkies. They smash fences and make a huge mess
at watering holes.
Anyway as I was saying there is always a competition on between my 2 boys in who
can get the largest, and after this pig a couple of nights ago Todd is definatly in the lead, now Jay is spending many days on the look out trying to get a bigger one!
Here is a few of their photo's from the last couple of months. My apologies if this
offends anyone, but it is just a part of life in the bush, and if you don't like it just skim past.

"Card for the day"

This is a baby card I made for my cousin Belinda, her and her husband Chris
had a beautiful baby girl a couple of months ago.

I made the card before she was born, so had to make it a neutral colour.

That's it for tonight.

Up to Minnimere Again.

We have had friends here for the last couple of weeks for the holidays and the company has been great! We took them up to Minnimere for a look for the day and it was so relaxing, the kids swam and we had a barbie lunch and the men took the tinnie out for a run.

How's this for a great shot. My best friend Fiona who lives in Weipa, takes the
most beutiful photo's. My computers chokka's so expect heaps on here over
the next couple of weeks.

Mel's Button Challenge!

Well the challenge wasn't in making something it was in finding the time to do it! But I was determined to have a go. I wanted to make a gift box for something I'm sending a friend, so this is what I came up with. All products used are stampin' up, I don't have time at the minute to categorise them but will jump on tommorrow and do a run down.
The stamp set is the hostess set A Little Bit of Happiness.
You can visit Mel's blog at http://www.melhanlon.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the challenge Mel!
AND HERE'S MY BUTTON!

Spring Mini Catalogue

The new Spring Mini is out on the 1st of August running right through until the 30th November. If you would like a free copy email me your details and I will get one out to you.
It's jam packed with new stamp sets, lovely silk ribbons and rub-ons.

This catalogue can also be viewed at the Stampin' Up website.

Territory Day

1st of July is Territory Day, which is when the NT was made into a Territory. On this day
it is tradition in the NT to let of fireworks, much to my husbands dismay, as he can
picture all of his grass (cattle feed) going up in smoke. We had our QLD visitors
here for it and they and their kids were wrapped as it is illegal in QLD.
It is a fun, but I must say a little dangerous with the odd one falling over.
The kids, especially mine who are pyrotenics at the best of times had an absolute ball!

Roper Bar Barra!

Here is a photo of John with a Barra he caught at Roper Bar at Easter Time.

Evonne and I

Evonne Goolagong Cawley is on our board of directors, she came out for a tour ofHodgson, she is such a lovely down to earth lady.

She had a talk with some of the kids from
the community while she was here.

She told them if you want something bad
enough and you work hard for it, your
dreams can come true!

Cased from Mel

Mel sent me a card similar to this for a swap early this year, I was sitting pondering
a With Sympathy card that I had to make to go out on that afternoons mail plane
when I glanced up at my board of cards from friends and swaps, when my eyes
fell on Mels Card. I thought perfect I'll just swap the Thank You to With Sympathy!
I think my blues a bit darker and I used olive ribbon instead of cream, but I loved
how quick it was to put together, thanks Mel!

Engagement Card

A friend of mine got engaged earlier this year. I loved this card that was in the
Mini Catalogue that I had to at some stage case it. Thought it would make a
great engagement card.

Brother In-Laws Birthday

I wanted to use the bronc buster set to make a card for
John's brother in-laws birthday, but wanted to try it in
a different colour to what I normally use.

This photo doesn't show, but the background was stamped using the SU Paisley Background.
I don't mind it, but I don't love it, if you know what I mean.

Teachers Present

When it was Jay's teachers birthday, I thought I would have a bit of fun
with the frogs, I also wanted to have a go at a double pull up.
Making this card was a lot of fun. And for a present she got a couple
of sets of SU Stamps.

When my sister visited.

When my sister visited at Easter we got to do a bit of stamping.
We got to make 60 baby announcements with the Bundle of Joy set,
(oh man, What an epic), but they look great and are ready to send when she
has the baby in September. (sorry no previews).
She had a bit of fun copying some cards I made, and I made some for her
to take back. One is for her best friends little girl and the other was for
a friend having a baby.
The Card was made using both Stampin' Up
and Penny Black stamps. The little photo on
the left shows better how it was raised. I loved
making this bright girlie card, as I don't get many
chances to make "girlie things".
And this is the baby card using A Stampington & Co stamp and a SU background stamp.
