My Pop-Up Card. Is that what you call them?

I've had this card in my head for awhile, and have been wanting to make
something with the Time Well Spent Set.

The DP is out of the little summer mini cattie that finishes today. I must admit
I ordered a couple of more of these as I can see lots of uses for them, with the
great colours they have in them.
This is the pop up inside the card, with a piece of blank card to write on.

Always.....

Here is a card I made on the weekend using the heart from the SU stamp
set Always and the swirl and flower from Baroque Motifs. It is also the
first time I have used something from the pretties kit and the pearls
add that final touch. DP paper was Designer Series paper in Rose Red.
I embossed the heart with Rose Red ink on rose red card and clear
embossing powder, I did the same with the flower but on cream card.

Well I was going to do a card a day.

I have been trying to get a few cards done when I have a chance, so I have some in
reserve so I can upload on a daily basis. Well John and I are heading off to Darwin
for a couple of days so I thought I would upload this little something I did yesterday.

Apparently we (Hodgson Downs) have been nominated for some award, we know
nothing about and we have been told we have to go. It is something to do with the
Northern Land Council. John is whinging that he's too busy but the break
will do him good.

So what do you think of my little shoe? The pattern is out of the magizine Quick
and Crafty and the designer is Cathie Shuttleworth. In the magazine it say's they
could be used as place names at a girlie dinner party, but I can just picture them
with a yummy white ferrar roche sitting inside one.
Once you cut the pattern out it was so easy.

Holding cattle

I couldn't resist taking this photo, it's a shame it's hard to see, if I try and enlarge
it the pixels get too big. It looked great from behind, a heap of the men holding
some cattle up in the corner.

Pink Ribbon Day

Today is Pink Ribbon day for the National Breast Cancer
Foundation. Please buy a pink ribbon or make a donation
to support this worthy cause.

Up in the air we go......

The shed builders bought a scissor lift out (I think they also call them cherry pickers) out to help put up the new shed, when Blue offered to take us up for
a photo op we jumped at the chance.

Here is Lyn the governess, Blue the shed contractor and Jay.
Here is our house.

On the left is my office, which Murray is also at the moment occupying for
accommodation. On the right you have the schoolroom, store room and ladies
bathroom and on the back of the building is the laundry and the men's bathroom.
Here we have in the background is Lancen's soon to be new house, it still needs a bit of work but shouldn't be too much longer and in the foreground is Lancen's donga which Murray will move into when Lancen move's into his house.

On the right you have the men's quarters, the one on the left is the one we
have had for a while, the one on the right has just been put in along with the
building behind that which is an ablution block. Over beyond that is the generator shed.

You can see our shadow on the scissor lift.

Our new shedAn overall picture. Cabin on the left is just being put in, it will be visitors quarters.
Then office, school building etc., Lyn's cabin, Lancen's hous, Lancen's cabin and
men's quarters. Over behind the office is where the contractors are camping at
the moment.

Jay up in the clouds

Lyn's cabin and behind that the tank and the horse yards and saddle shed.

It was amazing what we could see up there and it gives such a good idea from
that height where everything is.

Soft and Subtle

This is a card I made over the weekend to have a play with my new SU punch.
It's a lot prettier in real life, i'm not very happy with the word stamp though
it seems to get lost and needed to be darker.
Recipe:

Paper/Card - Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.
Stamps - One of A Kind, Time Well Spent
Other - Certainly Celery Grossgrain ribbon, Boho Blossoms punch, hole punch
and slit punch.

What a weekend.

Well this is what we have been dealing with for over a week now. The Power
and Water Authority were drilling bores for the community and started a fire
with a welder, then instead of letting anyone know or putting it out, they headed
off home.
We now have 2 almost 3 breeder paddocks burnt out and it's still going, and my
husband spent the weekend with Jay out fighting fires and backburning.
Poor bugger. I worked out since our season started in March he has had a total
of about 8 days off for the whole year, and that's including weekends.
I don't know how he does it.
In between fighting fires, he had to keep pulling a contractor out of a dam that
he was digging and kept getting bogged in. So I didn't see too much of him this
weekend, I think he thought he was in for a quite weekend as everyone else had
4 days off.

All Aboriginal Stamp Set

Here is some cards I made with the All Aboriginal Stamp Set in the new catalogue.
I thought they would be pretty appropriate for here. I gotta tell you they are a
really hard stamp to do anything with. You feel pretty limited. But saying that I'm
pretty happy with how they turned out.

This one was done on cream card with the canvas bg stamp done in Really Rust and
then Wild Wasabi. I then stamped the roo on it with Really Rust. The rest pretty well
speaks for itself, the kangaroo itself I just coloured randomly using really rust, ruby red,
and wild wasabi.

This was the hardest of the lot as the snake is not a big stamp. I stamped the snake
randomly in the same colours used above. The bg was done using the leaf print roller.
I punched holes in each end then threaded some twine around some twigs.

Close up of the gumnuts and twigs.

This was my favourite, but the photo doesn't do it justice. The background was stamped using the BOho stamp set, I just randomly coloured each spot and stamped until the card was covered. The goanna was done the same as above.

A couple of shots from Minimere a couple of weekends ago.

Lyn, Jamie, Jay Todd and John swimming at Minimere.
Walking to the deep holes.

John having a troll at Minimere.
When Todd and Jamie came back from fishing the other day, Todd said there
is no way he was going out again as a 15ft croc tailed them in the boat
Too Scary. He never worried us before, but is getting a bit cheeky.

Life....

I'm on crutches at the moment. Silly me was carrying a big box of groceries down
the steps of the shop in the community, which are quite steep and dangerous at
the best of times, when over I went! Some little gem had dropped a full ice-cream
on the steps and just left it there and because I was carrying the box, I didn't see
it, so down I went. Like a bag of ......potatoes! My left leg stayed behind me and my
foot twisted up under me. It's either pulled muscles or a hairline fracture, so fun
and games on crutches.
I took Todd and Jamie up to Darwin to catch the plane back out to Rockhampton
on Friday and had of course a list of jobs to complete for John and the station.
We went and had Thai for tea and then went and saw My Best Friends Girl at the
movies - It is so funny (a bit crude in places) but I could not stop laughing!

Lyn and I stayed an extra night, so it was lovely to go for a shop in the
morning and then lay beside the pool with a cocktail in the afternoon, and met up with a friend for tea, (I had MudCrab Lasagne...YUM!) it was so relaxing and so
what I needed, instead of dropping my boy off at the airport and driving the 61/2
hrs home.

We went out to Bella Glen late Thursday afternoon to have a swim and give Lyn
a look as she hadn't been there. Here's Jay hamming it up for the camera! Climbing the tree to jump in the water. I know it's a shock, but here's Todd trying to push Jay in. (doesn't sound like my boys!)Jay got rope burn the first time he tried it last year, here he's working up the courage to do it again. He did it easy!

!!!!*The Blog Candy*!!!!

This is the worst photo. But you get the idea. There is new Stampin' Up ribbons, Stampin Up Stamps set (I can't think what it's called - I think all year cheer - sorry the stamp set is not here) but is new and unmounted. There is lot's of stickers and making memories embellishements, some colured card. All sorts of things. So go back down to where it tells you about the challenge for the blog candy.
Should be fun and it might give you the chance to make something a little different for someone for christmas, Oh yeah, I've extended the date it finishes so there is now NO EXCUSES!

Mel's swap

Last month Mel Hanlon held a swap, it had to be embossed and
metallic card incorporated.

AT LAST!

Jamie has tried to catch a barra for almost 20 years, so we took him to
Minnimere and Todd took him out in the little tinnie, well after about
10 mins you should have heard him. cooee's were coming like you wouldn't
believe. When he came back he was shaking so much, he was so excited and
happy! Good on ye Jame!

5000 hits means Blog Candy!

Well I know I promised earlier down the track when I hit 5000 that a little Blog Candy was called for, and I thought since I haven't done any blog candy this year it may have to be
something worthwhile, so check back over the next couple of days and I'll put a photo up
of what it will be.
BUT! There has to be a challenge involved.

The Challenge.......
Make something that is ANYTHING BUT A CARD using all Stampin' Up products. Link your creation to this post. You have until Midnight 11.11.08.
I will get my husband and governess and children to pick the winner.
Most original will be a big plus.
Good Luck to all.
