What should I take?

We are heading off to Dundee Beach next week for 2 weeks, of much
craved rest. Dundee Beach is south west of Darwin and is so lovely
and fairly untouched. We have a block there but nothing on it yet
so we have booked a beach house for 2 weeks.

We are just going to relax, relax and relax some more.

John who is fishing mad is taking his boat and the boy's have
heaps of DVD's packed and the house has a pool.

I told John I was taking some stamping stuff, so I too could play
while I was away. You should have seen the look on his face and
the groan that came out of him. The cheek!!
Maybe I'll just fill his boat up with my stamping gear to travel. LOL!

I would love to hear what everyone else feels they just have to take
rum, vodka.........just joking........(stamping gear that is).

What would you take, what couldn't you live without if you had to
make cards on a limited supply?

I agree Jean....

Jean McKenzie http://www.jeanmckenzie.blogspot.com/
posted a comment about my cards using the scraps from
the DP Holiday Thyme the other day, about how she finds
it hard to use the paper as she loves it so much.

Well Jean I'm with you, but I find it hard to use
ANY DESIGNER PAPER! I've usually bought it
because I love it, but then I hate to cut it. LOL
Strange I know. And I have been forcing myself
lately, if you haven't noticed, to start using it on a
lot more of my cards.

But Jean, I bought 3 pkts of thie Holiday Thyme
paper so I betta use some I think....

This card is very similar to the one below, which
I would love to hear comments on as to whether
it's to plain or not. This card was along the same
theme, but blinging it up a bit......
I JUST COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!
I stamped it on cream instead of white and
mounted it on the DP with Cranberry Crisp
and True Thyme, which were in colours last
year. I truly think they should have kept these
colours as they are so versatile.
I inked the ribbon on the stitching as the white
was too stark and attached it with a spiral out
of the hodgepodge (another thing I find hard
to use).
I love how this bird out of the Always set looks
all Christmassy when stamped in red.
And the branches and wording is from the
Peaceful Wishes set.

Cheers to everyone,

Kristy xo

Tell me what you think....

Do you think it's too plain?

Do you think it needs something? I am after some quick cards, and I don't
mind it, but I found it so hard not to layer and add "stuff"".
I'm interested to know what everyone thinks! Would you be happy with a
card like this, or would you feel cheated?

Friday, 28 November 2008

I can finally post this card.

I made this card for my brother in-law and sister when they had their little
baby girl (Tilly Mae) in August. I did go for a visit, but silly me left it sitting
on my craft table.
I so loved this card in real life, it's actually probably the most favourite card I've
ever made, and found it really hard to give away, but I knew it was going to
a good family.
This set is now finished, but I had to grab it when they were not listing it
anymore last year. The background and the baby are both wheel stamps.
Baby Time and Wash Day.
The DP Paper on it is from the Petals and Paisley's pack. The card itself is
made using Certainly Celery with a strip of Bashful Blue which goes all around
the back and holds the card together, with the image stamped on whisper white and
coloured, then all of the clothing and the baby raised.
The flowers are from the Spring Mini Catalogue, which finishes this Sunday.
The set is called One of a kind and then they were punched out using the
matching Boho Blossoms punch. The ribbon is Regal Rose. A lot of the images
have a bit of kindy glitz on them to give a bit of bling factor.....
This part pulls out of the card..... Did I mention it's a pocket card.....

To give you this to write on!
The whole card fits perfectly into one of those long envelopes.
Thanks for looking and everyone have a great day!
Cheers,
Kristy xo

Keesh's Inspiration Challenge #2

Had to have a go at Makeesha Byl's latest inspiration Challenge.
You can check the challenge out here:
What better way to make a christmas card then entering a
challenge. Makes me get in and do it, I don't know why but
I have never enjoyed making a christmas card as much as a
normal card, like I've said before it almost feels like a chore.

But anyway this was fun! This is the first time I've used this

set and I had a great play. I used all of the little stamps to
create the background on Pumpkin Pie card.
I put some of the real red card through the crimper for
the strips down the side and embellished with black brads.
Now for the fun part....

I put googly eyes on the clam and the crab, I lifted the present up with mount
and also put puff on the crabs hat and glitter for the sand and last but not least
put some crystal effects on the good old prawn to raise him up a bit.

This card was fun to make..

Now.......Who to send it to?

Thanks for the challenge Keesh! Now I'm off to bed.

Using Scraps!

These are a couple of quick cards I made yesterday afternoon. I'm trying to use
up some scraps from the DP Holiday Thyme from last year. Under the Burgundy
one I used the Flower from the Scribble this set and on the Green Joy one I
used the Peaceful wishes set.

Mel's Challenge to make a Xmas card in non-traditional colours.

Mel's latest challenge is to make a Christmas Card using non-traditional
Colours. http://www.melhanlon.blogspot.com/
This is an image I stamped from Karen Robinson
http://karenmrobinson.blogspot.com/ last year, using the SU Set
Happy Christmas Mate. I actually used
this image to make some cards with the School of the Air kids.
Thanks again Karen! I really should buy this set, as I think as an
Australian it is one that will never date.
When I saw Mel's latest challenge, I thought he would go perfect with
the spring break DP's in a VERY non-convetional colour way!!!!!
The Card I used was whisper white, Only Orange, Brocade Blue,
and Wild Wasabi. The image was stamped in Basic Black and the
Very Merry from the Short and Sweet set was stamped in Not Quite Navy.
Thanks for the challenge Mel.
Cheers,
Kristy xo

K Werner Colour Challenge #31

Here is Krystina's latest colour challenge, which
I really liked the look of.
http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/2008/11/color-inspiration-31.html

The colours were Close to Cocoa, Elegant Eggplant,
Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Whisper White

Well I knew I wouldn't get one made in time to enter it as we have had bosses
here for the last couple of days and we have been flat out cleaning and cooking,
and sorting things out. Must say I was exhausted after lunch today and slept
for about 3 hours.
Anyway back to the card, I thought I would have a play with the colours and I
have to admit as soon as I saw Krystina's geourgous photo, I automatically
thought of this set, I don't know why as they are nothing alike but I think
the colour and the set have the same feel about them.

When I first laid the colours out, I had something totally different in mind
to what I ended up making. Still not sure whether I'm happy with it.

A Card for Misty

My sitsters best friend had a little boy
on Saturday and she asked me to make
a card for her.
The stamp was from the Bundle of Joy set.
I used Certainly Celery, Brilliant Blue
and Very Vanilla card. The image was
stamped in Chocolate Chip and coloured
with the Brilliant Blue and Certainly Celery
Pens.
The slit punch was used for the bottom wavy
effect. I also used Basic Background stamped
on each card in the heart spot stamp and
finished it off with some Certainly Celery
Ribbon and a flower and blue bling brad.
Thanks for looking, hope everyone has a good day!

Makeesha Byl Inspiration Challenge #1

Makeesha http://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/has posted an Inspiration Challenge this week, and this is it above.
I just so love that sparkly pillow, nothing like a bit of bed bling!

I really had to think on this one. The colours were pretty obvious, but then
it was well what stamps will I use, the Artfully Asian was calling again, but
I decided to have another play with the Spring Solitude set.

This is what I came up with!

The card I used was Whisper White, Creamy Caramel,
Tempting Turquoise.
My base card is Whisper White, then I cut a piece of Whisper
White and divided it into 3 with a ruler.
The 2 outside squares I stamped with the outline stamp using
my TT, Creamy Caramel and Not Quite Cocoa pens.
Then the center square, I sponged with Cool
Carribean, then stamped the bold flower on it with Tempting Turquoise. I then
mounted a strip of Creamy Caramel to the top which I had distressed and a
strip of Tempting Turquoise on the bottom. I then stitched around each
segment with my sewing machine and white cotton. The very base of the card
is Creamy Caramel card stamped with the crosshatch BG in CC.

Now for the ""Bling"", the top of the card is a piece of Tempting Turquoise card
which I stamped with clear versamark, I then covered it with Dazzling Diamonds
and clear embossing powder and embossed it dry. This turned out just how I
wanted it, as I had to have that sparkly pillow at the top.

Last but not least I stamped the bold flowers with the TT and then again with
NQC which I cut the center out and put in the middle of the flower and raised
the flowers up. In the center square I drew lines with my TT pen to look like
the lines in the quilt.

Wow! That was an epic explanation!!!!!

Photo's just don't do our cards justice, do they girls. Anyways here's a bit of a close up of the bling strip.

Thanks for looking and thanks again for the challenge Keesh!

Cheers,

Kristy xo

Mel's Latest Colour Challenge

Whisper White, Lavender Lace,
Green Galore, Chocolate Chip.

Well Mel, I gotta admit when I sat
these colours together on my table,
my first thought was "Oh Yuck"!
LOL, I just couldn't picture that
bright green in anything but a
kids card or christmas card!

So I pulled out my stamps and
put aside 3 or 4 sets I thought that
could be possibilities, and once again
went with the Artfully Asian set.

I have only just purchased this set
and as you can tell I'm lovin'it.
I put the not so Glorious Green
through my matching Cuttlebug
for the base card, then stamped the peach branches in Choc Chip,
Coloured the flowers with the Lavender Lace the leaves with
Glorious Green, and the buds with choc chip. I then put Glossy
Accents on the flowers and buds to raise them out.

The wording from the Sage Advice was stamped in Choc Chip
and as you can see it was mounted on both the choc chip card
and the lavender lace with a choc chip ribbon added down the
side.

Well Mel, when I finished this card, I thought I don't mind that.
These challenges really make you work out of the box, I can
honestly say glorious green is not a colour I would comfortably
pick up and add to those other colours of my own accord.
But saying that.........................

When I finished it, I just had to make a kids card with the
colours, so this week I have 2 cards. (It doesn't rain, it pours)
(Oh we wish!!!)

This card shows how bright it actually is close up.

I put the green through the Cuttlebug again in what I call the crocodile skin embosser. I stamped the croc in the Glorious green onto the white card, then stictched the white to the LL and the LL to the CC and then stitched that to the embossed GG and then stitched that to the LL. I cut stars with the SU Punches and stitched around the big one.

In the bottom right I used the happy thoughts stamp set and a glorious green button.

Thanks for the challenge Mel, I really enjoyed it.

Cheers,

Kristy x0

Kristina Werner Colour Challenge #30

Kristina Werner Colour Challenge #30

Old Olive
Certainly Celery
Sahara Sand
Whisper White

This took a lot of thought as to what stamps I would use, and I found it a
real challenge to use all similar colours, my fingers were itching to grab a
bright colour for a flower. In the end I am quite pleased with how it turned
out.
The base of the card used the Sahara Sand, which I stamped with Certainly
Celery and the Crosshatch BG Stamp. You can't see it very well in this photo
but the whisper white was stamped with the flowers from the stamp set with
Certainly Celery, and the thank you stamped on with Old Olive. This was then
mounted onto Old Olive Card. The Certainly Celery Card was stamped
with the leaf image from the set and a Certainly Celery Bow and
ribbon stuck to it.

When I decided to use the SU Spring Solitude set it all came together really quick.

Thanks for the challenge Kristina!

Keesh's Colour Challenge - Some of my Favourite Colours.

These are the color's for Makeesha Byl's Colour Challenge.http://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/

Certainly Celery
Chocolate Chip
Regal Rose
Very Vanilla

I really enjoyed making this card as I always love these colours together.
I used Chocolate Chip for my base card and stamped it with Choc Chip ink
and my Crosshatch Stamp. The Certainly Celery card was stamped with the
bamboo leaves from the Artfully Asian Set and also the Thank You from that
set in Regal Rose. Chocolate Chip Bow added and then the whole lot stuck
to the card. I stamped the Peach Blossoms? from the Artfully Asian set in
chocolate chip then used my Regal Rose and Certainly Celery pens to colour
it in, and oops I forgot, I lightly stamped the Very Vanilla card with Regal
Rose using the Cross hatch stamp before the flowers were added. This was
mounted on Regal Rose card then mounted on the Card.

Another Scrapbook page

Here is a 2 page spread I did of Todd. He has won the Karumba Fishing Comp. on
quite a few occasions and I still have a few years of which to finish scrapbook pages
for.

These photo's don't show it up very well, but I used water paper behind the yellow
and the lure was a Print Blok Stamp. The Font for the heading was taken from a free fonts site on the internet.

Blog Candy..............

Just got an email from Debbie Minter in Mackay http://hubbysheadache.blogspot.com/
to say she had entered in my challenge, but lo and behold (whatever that means)
Debbie forgot to link it on my blog.

Here's Debbies entry: Isn't it great!
So after much consideration and as there
was only the 2 entries I'll add a couple of
more things and divide it between the
2.
Thanks for making the effort to enter
Natasha and Debbie.
I will get it off to you on next Tuesdays
mail plane.
Cheers,
Kristy xo

Another Baroque Card

This card was made using the baroque image stamped in Chocolate Chip on
Very vanilla and Mounted on Chocolate Chip card, I used one of the large
cream half pearls from the pretties kit. The whole image was then mounted
onto SU DP from the last mini catalogue. The Cherish stamped was done
using the same as above. With a Chocolate Chip ribbon to finish it all off.

Hope everyone has a good day, and if you check back later I will have a
scrapbook page to share.

Cheers,

Kristy xo

Blog Candy Winner

Congratulations to Natasha Murray, who was the one and only
participant in the challenge.

Wow, very dissapointing, I thought it would be a bit of fun, and
not that hard a challenge. It seems no one is interested all that
much in some free goodies anymore.

Natasha made these as a goodbye gift for
Mel Hanlon. You can visit Nataha's blog at the following address for all details.

http://natashamurraystamping.blogspot.com/

Well done for having a go Natasha!
All your goodies will be sent off in next Tuesdays mail. Drop me an email with your address Natasha.

Baroque Motifs

Baroque Motifs stamped onto very vanilla card with not quite cocoa ink.
Some cream half pearls ( I love these) on the flowers and some chocolate
chip silk ribbon. Chocolate Chip card behind.
This originally started as a thought along the lines of Makeesha Byl's
last challenge sketch, but it was too much to have something up the
left side as I liked it how it was. Can't tell in this photo, but the flowers
are raised out.

Thanks for looking.
See you tommorrow.

Scrapbooking.

I haven't scrapbooked for quite awhile, but after looking at a few sites lately, I'm keen
to get back into it. This is the first page I ever did I think it was in 2001.

Just a reminder....

The Blog Candy Challenge finishes at midnight tonight.

So come on ladies, enter something that's not a card, made with SU products and be in the running for all the goodies.

Cheers,

Sailing by with a Birthday Hi!

I participated in Makeesha Byl's challenge with this layout last week and
had quite a few ideas in my head for it, but only had time to make one at
the time. I don't know how Makeesha has all of the time to make as many
as she does, with kids and everything else, she must be a night owl.

I printed "sailing" out on the computer so I could stick it on top of driving by

with a birthday hi! from the loads of love accessories.

Friday, 7 November 2008

It's my birthday, it's my birthday......

No it's not. My birthday was on the 15th September and this is a set that I
made that I was going to post that day, but as I was away I forgot all about it
and have been meaning to post it ever since.

This is a little cupcake take home party favour. I made these using the 2-4-6-8
box, but I added an extra 2 cm onto each measurement and made it short.
Put some card through the crimper and attached some handles.

This is a side view

Lolly favour bag

And while I had these pretty bright colours out I had to make a matching
card.
They are so much brighter and cuter in real life.

Makeesha's layout challenge.

Hi all, how is everyone today. Me, well I could easily crawl back into bed, but must

go on.........LOL. Gotta laugh, if I don't some days I'd be crying.

Anyway I was checking over at Makeesha Byls site http://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/

and she has the above layout challenge going. I really like the simplicity of the

layout so thought I would give it a whirl. I have a couple more in my head that I

would love to give a try'(if I get the time), but here is one I did yesterday morning.

What do you think?

Thanks for the challenge Keesh!

Card for the day. A fishing we will go.

I think that's a wishing we will go, I know there's lot's of days
John was wishin he was fishin!

I wanted to try a sunset card as there is so many around at
the moment, and I have been thinking about it for awhile and
for some reason I had this stamp in mind.
The Stamp is a Stamp It stamp. Then when I got it out I realised
it already had a sun, and the image was actually smaller that I
remebered, so there went that idea. Anyway I thought well I've
got it out now, so instead of brayering a sunset which I originally
had in mind, I ended up stamping a mask for the boat, then
sponging the sunset and water, then sponging the boat and
colouring the men with my pens.
Not exactly what I was originally thinking, but another male
card for the supply box, which is always handy.
